On the site of the command building of the former Petőfi Barracks, after its demolition, a 1,400 square-meter factory hall was built, which housed the Zalaegerszeg Dual Education Center.

The new, modern center provides vocational training and retraining in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Zala County, industrial companies, enterprises, the Zalaegerszeg Vocational Training Center, and vocational training institutions to provide quick and effective answers to labor market challenges.

Zalaegerszeg Dual Education Center Ltd. is a joint venture of industrial companies, which enables practical training in a real production environment, with realistic expectations, in integrated cooperation with institutions and owners, as well as other industrial and technology partners. The company was founded in 2016 thanks to 8 founding members. The Dual Education Center provides training for the cutting and welding workforce within the mechanical engineering sector.

The Zalaegerszeg Dual Education Center Ltd. was transformed into a Sectoral Education Center on 31 August 2020.

Pursuant to the transformation of the Zalaegerszeg Dual Education Center into a Sectoral Education Center, the Zalaegerszeg Vocational Training Center will be connected to the Dual Education Center, and as a result of that, the role of the government will increase.
